seasonality ✦ daycare: week 6, tuesday

[ well you guys asked for a party and weed brownies so here we are. leo’s made fresh brownies! they are not marked as weed brownies, and they look so innocent. they smell so delicious. have some! ]

So, while we’re waiting around with nothing to do - why don’t we have some fun? We played some games and did stargazing last week to lighten the mood, but we have a waterpark.

- And maybe we can do Wang Lu’s thing and get the new rule out of the way, while we’re at it.

[ Otome is not at all fazed by getting her hand kissed by a pretty lady; if anything, she appears to be understanding.

But then Iris continues and her smile fades into something a little more... wistfully sad. ]

I-- thank you. I do think I understand.

[ Missing someone this much after only a few days... how silly am I? ]

[ . . . she shakes her head.]

It's not silly. It's sweet. I think she'd like it if you could spare some time to send her a letter.

[ She nods, expression a little rueful. ]

I intend to. I've just been trying to figure out what I could say to her.

... anything that comes from you would make her happy, I think.

[That's a nice thing about affection, I suppose.]

... Thank you. I'll see what I can do.

In the meantime, maybe let yourself accept some affection every now and then, too?

[that makes her laugh a bit, quiet but endeared]

Thank you, but I think I receive far too much as it is... I'm lucky.

[I want to deserve it.]

... Can I say something presumptuous? Just for a minute?

[she tilts her head but - ]

Just from the time spent here, I can tell that the majority of us have... difficulties with really allowing ourselves to offer and accept affection, for whatever reason that may be.

You may think you haven't done anything to deserve it, but from the way your dorm and the people who care about you have approached you and reached out to you, I would say that isn't true.

[ She smiles, faintly. ]

I think you've done plenty to deserve it, Iris. And I think the others would agree with me. We are, sadly, our own most critical judges in the end.
