I usually make enough for three. It's fine.

That's a good policy.

[he nods as he sets the plates down on the counter. or, well, misses the counter the first time he tries, but he gets there eventually.]

Yeah, I definitely owe Crow one.

[ just watching with concern like. should he help? does rupert have this? but he does, apparently, so that's! good! ]

The spike thing, right? That... looked pretty bad. You guys really had a rough time, huh?

Considering someone lost an arm on the first one I went on... It could have been worse.

[with a little breath]

Not that I'm not angry it happened again. I definitely am.

Oh, for sure. But you’d think they’d at least give us a way to heal up properly, or something. I mean, we already died.

[ sighs. ]

Bradley showed me what you guys got out of it. If Ichiro’s theory was right, that’s… not going to be good.

We've got Crow and Byleth, at least.

[his expression grows a little tighter, though, as he pauses.]

...I don't want it to be. But when have any of us ever gotten what we've wanted, right?

And Otome and Tsuyu, I guess.

[ makes a face ]

There's been all that stuff about rewriting things, though. So maybe there's still a chance for that, and they won't have to get hurt?

...Yeah, I know. I'm not trying to be pessimistic or anything, I just...

No, I get it. It's... hard to feel positive about much right now.

But I figure that trying to do something is better than nothing, right? Even if it doesn't help much. It keeps your head busy, at least.

...Yeah. It kind of feels like things just keep getting worse.

[but he nods.]

Once we figure out what we can do about this specific thing, sure.

You aren't wrong, but that's all the more reason to keep going, right? I've always found that if you keep moving forward, sometimes you find the solution you need when you aren't even expecting to. So maybe while we're dealing with everything else, we'll figure out what we need

[sounding a little bit less unhappy when he continues on:]

...Yeah. You're right, of course. I'm not giving up.

Nah, of course not. But it'd be nice to have a break from all the murder mystery stuff, sometimes. A real one, not just a temporary thing while we wait for the next awful thing to hit.
