[ on thursday morning, there are strange signs (except... they’re all misspelled? who did this?) pointing everyone in the direction of winter dorm. follow, and you’ll find that they lead not to the dorm itself (whose doors remain closed and locked), but around the corner of the dorm, where a nice little shack awaits.

it looks quite normal, if you ignore the torn curtains in the windows, and the way the lights flicker from inside. and there’s an odd lack of… well, anyone, as guests approach - though you may see movement out of the corner of your eyes - was there something there? you must have imagined it, because you’re definitely hearing things. the door to the shack gives a loud creak as it opens, all on its own, fog spilling out to pool around your feet. the dim lights within illuminate a nearby sign that reads:

enter if you dare.

(it's not a culture festival without a haunted house! if you’ve ever wanted to be jumpscared by all of winter dorm, now’s your chance!) ]

i hope taichi liked having two functioning hands because yamato reflexively grabs at his, and also half of his body, and crushes it as he tries to jump backwards ]

[WHY!!! he will let yamato crush his entire being with a startled yelp and this is how they land in a pillow pile in the other thread, but he doesn't exactly move before he whips his head around.]

It's fun? It's just winter dorm, they're not even that scary.

[ yamato is stepping AROUND it, thank you, with the kind of careful fear you'd expect from someone who is going to have a heart attack soon ]

[he is distracted by the laughter actually so he is also stepping around the lump!! ]

[ booooooo. the lump wiggles a little but it can't reach them, so. off they go.

as they continue on, the laughter grows louder... until suddenly it stops.

there's an impossibly loud clap of thunder as the lights flash, and they'll see a very realistic rendition of frankenstein's monster to their left. he stands still as a statue. ]

grabbing onto taichi's hand and once again crushing it. what's that? he just got the left side healed? it's fine we can break the right one instead ]

Haven't we seen enough? They've got special effects, great, let's go!

[there's another yelp but it's because yamato's busy crushing his hand.]

It can't be that special! They only put this together last night...I think.

[unfortunately for yamato, taichi is in fact dragging them closer toward frankenstein's monster, waving a hand in front of his face.]

[you know that kind of scream you do when you're not actually scared because you knew this would happen but it's more out of being startled anyway? it's that. there's that, and then oh, by yamato.]
