I set it up this morning, yeah, so it's been printing through class. But I don't know if it actually turned out nicely yet. So let's go find out!

I guess a machine that makes statues wouldn't be that fast. Those usually take a long time, right?

Yep. It depends on how big the end product is, but I set it to be about the size of your hand, so not too big.

[ once they get there, he'll have to drop tsuyu's hand to go get the flower from the printer! and he offers it immediately to tsuyu. ]

What do you think? I don't know a ton about flowers, honestly, so you'll have to tell me if I got it right or not. It's supposed to be lavender, right?

[He nods, and examines the plastic flower, turning it over in his hands, sniffing it. Then he bites it??? Sir???]

It's that weird material I keep finding all over the place here.

But it does have the shape of it. Even if it's lacking other qualities, a statue would anyway.

Yeah, call it like a miniature statue you can take with you, if you want. Glad it came out okay, though.

You're welcome. Normally I'd try to make something you could use in other ways, too, but... you don't really need me to do that.

What do you mean? I think the best kind of gift is something that's useful.

I mean, yeah, but I don't know what I could make that would be useful for you. My specialty is machines and weapons and stuff, you know?

Could you make a machine that dries things out fast or grinds them up? When I'm making a powder that can be easily added to ointments or drinks that's what takes the longest.

You mean like a mortar and pestle, or something automated? Because I could do both. I don't know if we have the supplies here right now, but maybe Iris would take vouchers for it...

W-well you shouldn't use your vouchers on it. I mean, I can still do it by hand the way I have been, after all. We should use vouchers for important things.

So what else is in here?

Tools, mostly. Some robotics kits, which I've been fiddling around with a lot. It's not enough to make something we could use for trials, like I was hoping, but it keeps my hands busy, anyway.

And any of this stuff could be used as a weapon in a pinch, too - especially the tools. I end up fighting a lot of monsters with hammers back home.

You'd think they wouldn't leave all these potential weapons around when it seems they were careful enough to not grow any ornamental plants that are poisonous.

Yeah, well. We still can't take the really dangerous stuff out.

[ he fishes a box cutter out of a toolbox. ]

I'd love to be able to take this or one of the heavier hammers with me, but they just go poof. So it's not like it's that much different than the plants.

So you can keep working on your projects even back at your dorm, huh?

That's be nice, yeah. I've got my own tools that I traded vouchers for a while back, but it's not the same as having a whole workshop, you know?

There's loads of plants I normally work with that just don't grow here. So I get what you mean.

...Poisonous ones?

Well, technically yes. But only because there's some plants that can be used medicinally that are toxic in higher doses. But there's other that just don't seem to grow around here. Maybe they're ones that are endemic in Japan and China but not elsewhere?
